Earth Week 2019
This year, SSTF is excited to announce our devotion in running an event each day for a week leading up to Earth Day on April 22nd.
Any and all are more than welcome to help volunteer for each event being hosted by various clubs around campus. If you are interested in being a part of this great experience in celebrating our home, email our Chair Maya Navabi via navabm@rpi.edu.
More details for each event are coming soon! Please stay tuned and prepare to get your sustainability on.
To commence Earth Week, 2019, SSTF is collaborating with Vasudha on a succulent give-away! One of the main goals of SSTF is to maximize our relationship with nature, even in the littlest ways. Having a small little plant in your designated living space is one of the easiest ways to enhance your understanding and relationship with our natural world.
These succulents are luckily free of charge, so please come by and grab your very own succulent to nurture. They need watering a mere once every two weeks and direct sunlight in your windowsill.
We will be tabling at the Student Union from 10 AM to 4 PM on Tuesday, April 16th. We hope to see you all there!
Various sustainably-oriented clubs on campus will be tabling on Wednesday, April 17th in EMPAC. Come get to know what we do, why we do it, and how. Any and all are welcome to join, if interested.
SSTF, FRN, and the Smart Lighting and Sustainability Club are a few clubs to name that will be in EMPAC from 10 AM to 4 PM.
One of the most important ways in which we can help alleviate our ecological impact on our planet is through using our food waste for the development of nutritious land to grow more food to eat.
To help contribute to this, please feel free to drop off your food scraps to members of SSTF and Vasudha at the Student Union patio. There is no need for meat or dairy scraps. We will be there from 10 AM to 2 PM, so come on out any time at all!
It is possible to be more sustainable in your everyday life on campus! SSTF will be tabling in the Student Union on Thursday, April 18th from 10 AM to 4 PM to share our knowledge in sustainable ways to use and reuse various cosmetics.
Come out and see what keeping up with your beauty routine while keeping up with your healthy relationship with Earth can look like.
We hope to see you all there!
SSTF will be hosting a documentary viewing of A Plastic Ocean on Friday, April 19, at 5 PM in rooms 3511/3510 in the Student Union.
Following the documentary will be a discussion based on the information shown and why this information is important and can be used for a greater good.
We hope you all join us for this inspiring experience!
Join fellow classmates, members of SSTF, and people in the community in helping clean up our surrounding area. It will be a rewarding, fun, educational experience, so we hope you all join us in our endeavor!
Meet in front of the Student Union at 10 AM on Saturday, April 20, to commence the community work.
Performing sun salutations and yoga in general is a great way to strengthen your relationship with the Earth and natural world.
On Sunday, April 21, join us in completing 108 sun salutations on the 86 Field at 4 PM.
Relax and empower yourself and others through this active exercise we know you will enjoy!
