Volunteering Eco-Mixers by SSTF

Kiani, Natalie, and Sherese (left to right) take on the agricultural work at Capital Roots
In the few months that school has been in session this semester SSTF has organized three events that involved service work in the community of Troy, NY. We have visited two urban gardens being Capital Roots and Freedom Square. During NRB, in August, SSTF joined Ecologic and rising freshmen students on a trip to the Sanctuary, Protec Recycling, and ECAV. Students of all ages learned about sustainable practices both in their school and in the city of Troy. On Saturday October 3 we launched our first Eco-Mixer of the semester at Capital Roots students of various clubs like EWB, Terra Cafe, and Vahsudha residence attended this event. Later that day SustianAffinity hosted their first event, the Inaugural SustainAffinity Panel and Reception, organized by previous chair, Elizabeth Anderson.
This Saturday during Family Weekend, SSTF is welcoming students and parents to join us at the Sanctuary for Independent Media to help garden at Freedom Square once again. If interested in attending check out our Facebook event or email us at sstf@union.rpi.edu
We look forward to seeing students and family members there!
